Use FrontPage® to Design Your Web Site

You don’t need a complex or groundbreaking idea in order to create a good web site. Most of the time, a simple or even dumb idea can give birth to a popular web site. There is no telling what will become popular through the online community, and anyone can put their thoughts and designs on the Web. If you want to create your own web site, you can use FrontPage and skip the lines of HTML code. Programs like FrontPage make it much easier to design your own web site. Join the online revolution and use FrontPage to create the next inexplicably popular the web site. If the following web sites can achieve online success, then anything is possible.

Urban Dictionary – This is an online dictionary that defines slang terms, made-up words and a load of terms you won’t find in a traditional dictionary. Over 300,000 terms are defined on this web site, and people can submit their own words or terms. Urban Dictionary has been mentioned on CNN and in Playboy magazine. The site has become popular enough to collect advertising revenue and has quite the online buzz about it. You can have the Urban Dictionary word of the day sent to your e-mail account, and they have also published a book. Here are some examples of terms defined on the site. Subwoofing – sitting in your car and blaring your music to make sure everyone within listening distance can tell that you have a nice car audio system. Fives – used to claim a seat amongst a group of people when you get up. This seat saving strategy lasts for five minutes. Ex. “I have to go to the bathroom, fives.” Refrigerator Blindness – a selective loss of vision when looking for something in the refrigerator. Not being able to see something that is obviously in plain view. This condition is common amongst males and children. Use FrontPage and you could easily design a web site similar to this.

All Blogs – If you don’t know, blog is a term for web-log, which is essentially just someone’s thoughts or feelings written on a web page. There are millions of blogs out there today. It is to the point where the market is completely diluted because there are entirely too many people who are under the impression that the rest of the world cares about what they have to say. But most of these people probably don’t know how to design the web sites that host their blogs, so this is an area where you could use FrontPage to design web sites and charge people to publish their blogs. Or you could use FrontPage to create your own blog site. This phenomenon has also given birth to video blogs, or vlogs. This is for people who are too lazy to type their thoughts and would rather just talk to a camera. If you just slapped your forehead and wondered what this world has come to, you are not alone. If you just thought of a way to use FrontPage to take advantage of this growing trend, good for you. If you just discovered the irony of my criticism of blogs appearing in what could technically be considered a blog, I don’t know what to say for you.

Internet Search Help: Helping You Search Faster

The Internet is a big place, plain and simple. At times, it can seem hard to navigate your way from one place to another. You aren’t alone; thousands of Americans have gotten Internet search help through online classes and tutorials. Reading this will hopefully provide you with some tips for Internet search. Help is close at hand, learn how to search better, how to get what you are looking for faster, and how to protect yourself while online.

Internet Search Help Tip #1: Understanding Search Results

There is a lot of information on the Internet. Search help is common because it helps people make sense of the information. Sifting through your results may seem like an endless task, but knowing what .com and .org means will help you find what you want faster. For example, if you are looking for information on the White House, you do not want whitehouse.com. Why? Read on:

  • .com-a commercial business site
  • .org-mostly non-profit U.S. based sites
  • .edu-educational sites, mostly for colleges and universities
  • .mil-U.S. military and related agency sites
  • .gov-U.S. governmental or non-military
  • .net-networks, internet service providers and organizations

If you are looking to use the Internet as a research tool, understanding URL endings will help you assess whether or not your site is a credible source. If you need a credible military site, chances are a .com site will not provide you with the best information possible.

Internet Search Help Tip #2: Searching

Searching. It’s a big deal. There are many great search-engines, like Yahoo! and Google. But the Internet is huge, how can you be sure to find what you want, without having to sift through all the things you didn’t mean to find?

In your next Internet search, help the search engine by using the following:

1)      Use (+) and (-) signs with your search words. This will have the engine include and exclude certain words in your search.

 For example:  flowers+pots-garden

2)      Use quotation marks around your search word(“___”), the engine will then search the exact phrase you typed in

3)      Put the most important words in the front of your search

For example: Movies Western Cowboys

Internet Search Help Tips #3 and #4: Search specifications and signing up

Did you know that most search engines will not acknowledge certain words? These words are considered ‘stop words.’ “What are stop words,” you might ask? Stop words include: a, about, an, and, by, from, how, in, is, if, of, on, that, the, to, we, what, with, etc. Try using more nouns and adjectives in your search, the more words, the less results you will get.

For example: chocolate lab gets 8, 580,000 hits on Yahoo!, while chocolate Labrador retriever puppy gets 970,000 hits.

So, good luck searching, and take these Internet search tips to heart, they might actually help you get what you want!

Get FrontPageÒ Help and Get Your Own Web Site

I often wish that I had my own web site as a way to network or just as an outlet for writing and design. I think there are a lot of people out there like me who know how to use the Internet and do so on a daily basis, but might not have any knowledge of FrontPage or other web site design programs. FrontPage is decidedly easier to use and learn than HTML code, yet still complex enough that you wouldn’t be able to learn how to use it without FrontPage help.

There are plenty of different forms of FrontPage help available from online information to classes to CD tutorials. Video Professor offers FrontPage help in the form of both CD tutorials and online tutorials, so you have options. Both versions of Video Professor’s FrontPage help allow you to control the pace with pause, fast-forward and rewind controls so you will never feel left behind or bored. This tutorial also plays atop the FrontPage program so you can view the FrontPage help as you work in the program. This “What-You-See-Is-What-You-Do” method of learning is what has made Video Professor such a successful learning tool for so many people.

People have created their own web sites for a number of reasons, and the quality of these web sites vary as much as the creator’s interests. Most people have never taken any courses to learn the rules of design or functionality. Most people just want a personal web site for communication purposes or to air their views. With this in mind, it is no wonder that there are so many web sites out there that you look at and think “I could do better.” And some web sites are simple or rudimentary by design. In most cases you could design a better than average web site with a little FrontPage help.

Visual appeal can take you a long way, but a simple and very functional site can be much more successful than a sleek looking site that is nearly impossible to navigate. FrontPage help can show you how to use some of the program’s pre-made templates that are designed to be very user-friendly. You can also create your own template if you think you have the recipe for success. You should also learn a little bit about how to manage the pictures on your web site. Pictures are a great way to attract people to your site, but they also take a long time to load. FrontPage help can give you some tips on optimizing photos so you can find the right balance between quality appearance and fast download time.

FrontPage help can also teach you about different forms, which are a great avenue for user interactions on your site. Mailing lists, e-mail feedback and questionnaires can be created through the use of forms.

A web site can be a potential business, a communication tool or any number of other uses. Whatever you want to have a web site for, you can create it more easily than you might think with the proper instruction.

FrontPage® Training Can Help You Join the Online Community

With training in FrontPage you can easily design your own web site. And why not have your own web site? Everyone else does. The amount and type of web sites on the Internet is equal parts maddening and dizzying. You no longer have to go through the potentially painful process of learning HTML code. Most people know someone who can design a web site for them, if you are too lazy to find FrontPage training and design your own web site.

I feel like some of the most obscure ideas have become successful web sites, and it is no secret that anyone with FrontPage training, or training in other web site design programs, can get online with their own site. The amazing feat is not just that people have designed their own web sites, but that many people have become successful or made a career based off their web site. Here are some rather unlikely ideas that have spawned successful web sites.

YouTube – This site has obviously become so successful and has been around long enough that it doesn’t seem that strange anymore, but if you really think about it, the general principle doesn’t really warrant this level of popularity. I’m not surprised that a web site containing millions of short video clips has been able to succeed in our society of shortened attention spans, but the fact that GoogleÔ bought it for $1.65 billion is amazing. This leaves me with little doubt that there are hundreds of other ideas out there that could be cashed in for millions or billions of dollars with a little FrontPage training.

Wikipedia – This free, online encyclopedia has over two million articles in English, and anyone can get on the site an edit any of the entries. It’s an amazing concept and even more amazing that so many people trust it, considering that I could get on the site right now and write that George Washington was born in Croatia, created his own languages for fun, invented air and was once a national cart wheeling champion. Someone would undoubtedly change it rather quickly, but the fact that I can do that on the same site that thousand of high school students are using for their research papers, is staggering. With FrontPage training, you too, could create an encyclopedia site to be trusted by millions.

Thebestpageintheuniverse.com – Authored by a guy named Maddox, this is essentially a collection of rants and would likely take very little FrontPage training. This guy makes fun of children’s drawings and just about everything else on the planet. The site has existed for 10 years now, and its popularity has netted the author his own book deal. If you are bitter and have some writing skill, you could become a small Internet celebrity with a little FrontPage training.

FrontPage training is available in many forms, such as the interactive tutorials from Video Professor. No one really knows where the Internet is going next, but considering the relative ease with which you could create your own web site, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get FrontPage training and put yourself in the race.

Learning HTML is the Key to Your Own Web Site

With all the questionable web sites that exist today, there is surely room for almost whatever type of site you would like to create. Whether you want to create a personal, business or any other type of web site, learning HTML should be a priority. The Internet provides you with a lot of flexibility and possibilities. You can create as basic or extensive of a web site as your ambition calls for. There is no way to tell what is going to become popular on the Internet, so you can take advantage of the next online phenomenon by learning HTML and creating your own web sites. You can also turn this skill into a small business by building web sites for other people or businesses.

While learning HTML sounds like some kind of a torturously boring class involving the memorization of tons of code and symbols, it can be much more pleasant than that. Video Professor offers a 3-CD tutorial that can help you with learning HTML code. This interactive tutorial plays atop the program you are working in so you can view the tutorial while you work for maximum comprehension. Unlike working with a manual, you will be able to see exactly what you should be doing.

Learning HTML is easier than you think and when you do, you will be able to join the online community. If some of these web sites can succeed, then you could easily create an equally successful web site.

Losers.org – This is a site dedicated to cataloging all of the losers who have created web sites. There are several different categories of “losers,” and you can view all the different web sites that have been deemed losers by this site. So that means that someone decided to create a web site in order to make the public aware of the web sites created by losers. In other words, they spent hours online searching for web sites they don’t like and then put them all together, and they still have the nerve to call other people losers. Does anyone else see the incredible irony here? But it is a good database for strange and obscure web sites. By learning HTML, you can create a web site and put yourself in the running for inclusion on losers.org. They even have a rating system for the web sites, judging each site on a one though five “L” scale. You know, L for loser, how clever.

Ryanparkersongs.com – This is a collection of humorous songs about sports of varying degrees of quality. It has become pretty popular and a few sports writers I read, who are nationally known, have him on their radio show or link to his page when he adds new songs. His songs poke fun at many different sports icons and teams. By learning HTML and adding some musical spark, you could also have a mildly successful web site. Make your own web site, everyone else already has.

Basic Computer Skills are a Must

It’s amazing how nowadays people can get around on their computers and navigate the Internet without really having basic computer skills. That is kind of the trend. Many people just learn what they have to learn without taking the time to truly understand why their computer and computer programs work. Sure, it is easy to make do without this knowledge – it is seemingly easier to face a problem when it occurs – but it is not the proactive approach. It will ultimately take that much more time to get a job done and usually these problems occur when you don’t necessarily have the extra time to get the job done! And, if the problem is Internet security, you are going to wish that you had taken the time to master some basic computer skills.

Secure Your Personal Information with Some Basic Computer Skills

A lot of times, when we buy a computer, it comes with a security program in place. Sometimes the security program is set for 6 months, sometimes it is set for a year, but what happens when it expires can make all the difference. Sure, it does not seem like updating a “complicated” security system would be the most basic of basic computer skills, but it really is, and it is totally necessary in today’s environment. Is it really worth jeopardizing your security and personal information to not have to learn how to work an Internet security program? Probably not. So here is one way to learn the basic computer skill of protecting yourself online.

Safety First

Video Professor has always been on the forefront of teaching basic computer skills and advanced computer skills to everyone willing to try out its one-of-a-kind tutorials. John W. Scherer, CEO and founder of Video Professor, has made it his life’s work to teach millions of people the newest and most prevalent computer skills; online security is no exception. Video Professor’s new tutorial Protect Yourself Online will teach you how to keep your family and your information safe. There is no need to risk it when in as few as three hours, you can have more than just the basic computer skills to enable a security system on your home or office computer. The lesson is broken down into a 3-disc set that will first give you basic computer skills, then intermediate and advanced skills. You will not be left behind because the tutorials can be paused, rewound, stopped and fast-forwarded. Keep your own pace and learn as quickly or slowly as you need to and do it all on your own schedule. Protecting yourself online is not a joke. In today’s world, it is a necessity. Let Video Professor give you the tools and peace of knowing you and your computer are safe.

Learn How to Use FrontPage® and Get Yourself Online

The Internet has almost created a separate section of society or its own small world that exists on its own. If you were to spend several hours online each day for news, entertainment, work or any other purpose, you would undoubtedly have a different view of the world than someone who rarely uses the Internet. It’s an open source to view and air opinions, and people take advantage of that. It’s also an opportunity to create a business, a news source, entertainment and countless other possibilities. The Internet is constantly evolving so there is no telling what the next Internet revolution will be.

In our society, there are people who use the Internet, those who work with the Internet and make their living through it, and those who choose to ignore it. The latter group is getting smaller by the day, while the former two will continue to grow until they encompass everyone in our society. With programs like FrontPage, it is becoming easier for people to learn how to design their own web sites and use the Web to their advantage. If you know how to use FrontPage, you can design your own web site and create whatever kind of site you want.

It used to be the case that you had to master the complex task of HTML code in order to design web site, but now you can more easily create a web site if you know how to use FrontPage. It is also becoming easier to learn this program with interactive tutorials like the one offered by Video Professor. This tutorial allows you to view the lessons while you work in the program, giving it a distinct advantage over manuals. The entire lesson lasts about three hours and takes you through all the vital aspects of the program, so it also has a time advantage over lengthy classes. It has never been easier to learn how to use FrontPage.

Having your own web site can be a great way to market yourself. Think of it as a digital portfolio that can be viewable by anyone. If you are a writer, a graphic designer, an artist or any number of other professions, you can display your work through your web site and refer people to your site. It is one of the most accessible and cost effective ways to display what you can do. If your goal is to design web sites, you can provide links to web sites you have designed so people can see your work. When you know how to use FrontPage, you give yourself the ability to network across the globe. No longer will you be confined to your travel limitations when you have your own web site to showcase yourself.

And you never know when your web site could become your job. Another advantage of the ever-increasing online community is that there is no limit to how popular a given web site will become and there is no way of knowing what will take off next. Whatever kind of web site you have, if it becomes popular enough you can use it to sell advertising and fund what you are doing. A popular web site can also turn into any number of other business opportunities. Learn how to use FrontPage and expand your possibilities.

It’s Never Too Late for Computer Training

If you don’t really know how to use a computer or you just barely get by, don’t worry and don’t be embarrassed, you are not as alone as you think. There are a lot of people who don’t really know how to use a computer properly and even more who don’t want to admit it. And there are probably a lot more people who know the basics of how to use a computer, but don’t understand a lot of the terminology, don’t know what to do if their computer doesn’t work, or just aren’t that confident with anything they don’t use regularly. Either way, there are more people than you think who could still use some computer training in this day and age.

The first group of people that could probably use some computer training are people who will probably never get it. These people use computers fairly regularly, and they know how to use some of the standard programs and tools. They use the word processing program, the Internet, music or video programs, maybe some spreadsheets and know some other basic tools beyond that. If something comes up in the realm of those items they are familiar with, then they are fine. If something goes wrong with the computer or they need to perform something more complex, they wish they had some computer training. This represents a lot of people in our society who are competent as a casual user, but would be smart to find some computer training if they want to do anything more advanced.

Another group that could use some computer training is becoming less common in our society as computers become a more integral part of our everyday lives and people start using them at a much younger age. These people really don’t know how to use a computer very well. They aren’t really familiar with much computer technology, and the tasks that many of us take for granted are not familiar to them. In some ways, these people could benefit the most from computer training if they really committed to it and learned everything they could. If they dedicate themselves to learning, they could learn all the different parts of their computer and why they do what they do. A lot of people who consider themselves proficient with computers might not understand everything about the desktop or how the different filing systems work, among other things. If you barely know anything about computers, it could be very beneficial to find good computer training and learn everything the right way.

Another aspect that makes computer training very useful is security. How many people do you know who bought their computer, paid little attention to what security features came on their computer, let the trial security program run out and then wonder why they have problems a year down the road? The right computer training can explain the different aspects of computer security and which features might be most important for you. Many of those computer repair shops would be out of business if people took the right preventative measures, but many people don’t.

Learn How to Use HTML Code

If you knew how to use HTML it could expand your career options exponentially. This skill gives you a window of opportunity into the online world, where everything is going. Any experience that can help you create web sites or any expertise of web-related skills will put you in demand. HTML is very complex and not many people want to take the time to learn it, but it is still a great thing to know.

Unlike other computer programs, you can’t really try to teach yourself how to use HTML. You need some form of teacher, and there are a lot of resources from classes to Internet lessons to CD tutorials. Find something that you are comfortable with and something that is reliable. HTML is not something you want to try to learn with from a questionable source.

The best choice you are likely to find is probably a Video Professor tutorial. This is a reliable source that has been used as a learning tool by millions of people for a number of different computer-related programs and services. These tutorials use the “What-You-See-Is-What-You-Do” method of teaching so you actually watch the tutorial type the lines of HTML code as you are doing it. This provides you with a much more visual and hands-on learning experience than any other learning tool can offer. Video Professor’s tutorial can be used by any level of user because it has three different lessons from beginner to advanced. If you have a little experience in HTML code then you could skip through the beginner lesson. These tutorials also have play, pause, fast-forward and rewind controls so you have further control of the pace of your tutorial. Video Professor provides you with the quickest and most interactive way to learn how to use HTML.

Once you learn how to use HTML, you will be able to create web pages and add text, colors, graphics, pictures and more. You will also learn the keys to create hyperlinks and how to optimize your pictures for the Internet. Everything that you need to create great web pages can be mastered with the right tutorial and plenty of practice. Whether you want to create your own web site or you want to make a career out of designing sites, learning how to use HTML will be a necessary skill.

There are plenty of different types of web sites out there and an equal number of people or businesses that desire to get themselves online. Not everyone who wants his or her own web site has the desire or time to learn how to build it, and if you have the ability to help them code their pages for them, you are in a profitable position. By mastering HTML, you are putting yourself in a position to employ yourself as you can design web sites on a freelance basis and always be able to find work. This is also a skill that you can use to make extra money if you already have a full-time job. Putting together a few web sites on the side can be a nice source of extra income, rather than just a hobby.

FrontPage® Assistance Could Help You Launch Something Big

Sometimes I just sit back and marvel at some of the web sites on the Internet. Then I think about the fact that it is not just amazing that they exist, but the immense success that some of these sites have had. So many people have been struck with an idea and decided to create their own web site. You just never know what is going to take off online. Sometimes I think that the Internet is the most unpredictable thing in the world. The Internet community is huge and only growing. The number of obscure, unique and offensive ideas that have found a huge Internet audience is astounding.

So every once in a while I seriously consider learning how to design a web site if only for the chance that it would take off and I would suddenly have a new career path. Then it dawns on me that I don’t really know how to design a web site and that I should learn a program like FrontPage. If I had some FrontPage assistance I could skip trying to learn how to write HTML code and be on the way to creating the next big thing. Look at some of the uncommon ideas that have found huge success online and just think if it is out of the realm of possibilities that you could achieve the same amount of success with a good idea and FrontPage assistance.

Facebook and MySpace – The concept behind these sites alone took me a while to understand, and it took me even more time to understand why they are necessary. They’re not really, but they are a great way to stay in touch with people you don’t see very often and share pictures, videos and more. The idea is relatively simple, and anyone could create something similar with some FrontPage assistance. The great thing about a web site is that it is constantly flexible, and as the success of these sites has grown, they have been able to expand by adding new applications and collaborating with other businesses and web sites. There are even people who have gained national fame from being a MySpace celebrity and have been given television shows. If these ideas can be so wildly successful, many others can take off with FrontPage assistance.

Comedy and satire sites – There are an endless amount of comedy sites created by average people that have seen varying levels of success with or without FrontPage assistance. One site I like is essentially a rant site created by a grumpy computer programmer in his spare time. This site features angry vents about bad movies, annoying social norms and even cruel criticism of children’s artwork. The site receives about one million visits a month. Another is a sports satire site that has new, fake news stories about sports each week. It is entirely fictional, and anyone with a good wit and knowledge of sports could create this site with FrontPage assistance. Another site that comes to mind is essentially an archive of hilarious stories from a man who drinks a lot and generally acts with little regard for other people. This site now sees more than enough traffic to receive a good amount of ad revenue. All three of the authors of these sites have received deals to write their own books, and the last site’s author has had two book deals and a television pilot. And all three of the sites are not visually impressive and could easily be created with little FrontPage assistance.

If you have a good idea or even a bad one, it could take off online. All you would need to launch it is a little FrontPage assistance.
